Prices in transport sector doubled in one year
The prices that people pay for transport vehicles, transport services, repairs of transport vehicles and maintenance have doubled in one year. The most recent publication of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the General Statistics Bureau (ABS) indicate that the prices of transport vehicles rose with 100.9 percent in the course of one year while the prices for transport services rose with 99.3 percent. The price hikes in the transport sector are the result of the fuel price hike and the unification of the exchange rates. The adjustment of the fares for taxis, buses and other transport related services has created a situation where everybody has to pay twice as much now. The unification of the exchange rates also pushed prices up. The prices in other sectors have also gone up.
