SLM gets ETOPS certification
The national carrier, Surinam Airways (SLM), on Monday received the Extended Diversion Time Operation (EDTO) certification from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Suriname (CASAS). In the aviation sector the EDTO and ETOPS have the same meaning which basically means that the SLM is now EDTO/ ETOPS certified. After it had received the documents from CASAS, the SLM updated its information in the database of the European
Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and requested Third Country Operator (TCO) authorization. A TCO is an authorization issued by EASA to any third-country operator wishing to perform commercial air transport in
European countries.
The SLM’s B777-200ER flies passengers on the ParamariboAmsterdam flight route. The SLM wants to start up flights on the mid Atlantic route with the Bird of the Green Paradise.
