411 lockdown violators intercepted

-

The police reportedly caught 411 people who had violated the lockdown during the Christmas weekend. “These people were brought to the Police Academy,” said Rachel Deekman, spokesperson of the Police Force Suriname (KPS). The violators spent the night on a chair. After 5 a.m. they were given permission to leave. 71 of the violators were female. Deekman pointed out that the violators were not given a fine. The stayathome order is in effect from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Hundreds of citizens are caught on the street during these hours. Anybody who does not have a permission form and who is out on the streets between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. is in violation of the stay-at-home order.
