Chairman Bee meets with Ambassador Khargi
When the chairman of parliament, Marinus Bee, and the new Surinamese ambassador to the Netherlands, Rajendre Khargi, met on Tuesday, they discussed restoring the ties between Suriname and the Netherlands. Chairman Bee explained to Ambassador Rajendre Khargi that he had a tough job as he has to serve the national interests of Suriname. “You have the full support of the president and you can certainly also count on the full support of parliament and the coalition”, said Bee. Chairman Bee and Ambassador Khargi are both on the same page with regards to restoring the ties with the Netherlands.
Khargi pointed out that a favorable political wind is blowing in Suriname after a long time ad that one must seize this opportunity to the fullest. The Dutch government has already indicated that it is willing to provide technical assistance and expertise. Chairman Bee pointed out that both countries share historical ties and that both countries must benefit from the collaboration that is based on mutual respect.
