Two members of gang of robbers arrested

Gopi P and his brother Ricky S were arrested in the vicinity of the Jogi Sewsankarweg at Jarikaba on Wednesday night. Ricky S was shot in both legs before being arrested. He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Investigators believe that both suspects are part of a gang of robbers that has committed several robberies and thefts. The police zeroed in on these suspects who were released from jail last year. When Ricky S spotted the police at Jarikaba, he attempted to flee the scene on foot. The police fired several warning shots but the suspect was reluctant to surrender so they shot him in both his legs. Ricky S was armed with a gun at the time of his arrest. Gopi P was also in possession of a gun. The police recovered an ice box that the suspects had buried in a backyard. The ice box contained several items including bulletproof vests and masks. The police also confiscated mobile phones and about SRD 10,000. Both suspects insist that they are innocent. The arrests were made by the detectives from Mid Suriname and the officers from the RBT Paramaribo unit.
