Importers can buy US dollars at CBvS price for import of basic goods

The minister of Finance and Planning on January 5 met with the PLIS and agreed to let the importers of basic goods buy US dollars at the official price of the Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS) so that the prices of basis goods can be lowered with at least 20%. Only qualified importers of basic goods will be given this opportunity. The minister sent a letter to the PLIS, informing the organization that these importers can us the single window portal at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation so that they import basic goods duty free.

The importers must publish a list of the recommended retail prices and they are also required to make sure that the retailers sick to the maximum retail prices.
