Adhin case: Examining magistrate asked to launch judicial investigation
Prosecutor’s Office asks examining magistrate to launch the judicial investigation in the case against former Vice President Ashwin Adhin. During the judicial investigation several witnesses and even the suspect will be questioned by the examining magistrate. Attorney at Law Irvin Kanhai previously pointed out that he does not expect Adhin to be put in jail for now. He explained that he was also the attorney of political officials Errol Alibux
and Dewanand Balesar. There was also a judicial investigation in those cases. After the judicial investigations were concluded, the cases were presented to the Court of Justice which then made a decision about possibly detaining the suspect. Kanhai expects that the same procedure could be followed. Adhin is being suspected of falsifying documents, embezzlement and vandalizing media equipment that belongs to the state.
