Suspects claimed that they followed Adhin’s instructions

-

Vijendra R and Amin D on Tuesday told the court that they followed the instructions from former Vice President Ashwin Adhin. Judge Duncan Nanhoe who questioned the suspects on February will decide if these 2 suspects can be released from police custody. Attorney at Law Maureen Nibte who reportedly requested the release of both men explained that the men followed the instructions because they are “good employees.”

She pointed out that Adhin has been released from police custody while the civil servants are paying the price.

Nibte also pointed that there seems to some confusion as to the meaning of the word depreciation. She explained that when equipment has been depreciated it does not mean that it can no longer be used or that it is not fit for service.

“Each government depreciates stuff. A memo regarding the depreciation was drawn up and several people put their signature on the memo on various occasions. An offer was made to cover all the damages.”

Vijendra R is being accused of stealing two sofas, a TV and a printer from the Office of the Vice President. He is also being accused of the theft of a file cabinet, 3 tables, 5 chairs, 2 TVs and a computer. According to the charges, he committed these crimes with Adhin. Four witnesses are expected to appear in court on February 9.
