Steels vs Jazz in top of the table clash
– The oldest rivalry in local basketball will once again take centre stage as capital city giants Mbabane Jazz will take on Manzini Steels in game-4’s headliner.
This is according to this week’s round of games released by the Swaziland National Basketball League (SNBL) officer Mandisa ‘Cheeseboy’ Zwane. Bragging rights are not just only at stake, but also the top spot of the Elite Men’s League (EML) as both teams are on the same number of points, but Steels currently triumph the battle on reason of superior game difference. Both teams come into the match in high spirits as Steels thrashed Knicks 101 – 47 last week to claim the top spot whilst Mbabane Jazz also claimed 86 – 76 win against Mbabane Raptors, meaning Raptors have lost each and every match of the second round. Steels now have Coach-player Andile Hlophe in the second round and the team looks to be charging towards the play-offs in style. Jazz are also in fine form as the team’s new signings such as the likes of Sabelo ‘Sabza’ Simelane and Mandisa Zwane have gelled into the team and the Sifiso Sibandze led-side looks better than ever. Tip-off is 4pm tomorrow at the Mavuso Sports Emporium. The games will begin today at the very venue with the most interesting match being the Men’s Promotional league (MPL) top of the table clash which will see Manzini Raiders taking on Langalam Dunkylaine. Both teams were promoted together to the EML and were also relegated together, so their rivalry is also quite a fascinating clash. Tipoff is 1pm. Other matches on the day will see Lady Jazz taking on Lynx Basketball and RSSC tridents facing-off against Imbumbe.
