Baroka con­firm sign­ing of Zim star

Baroka FC have con­firmed the sign­ing of Zim­babwe at­tack­ing mid­fielder Rod­well Chinyengetere, though he will only be reg­is­tered by the Lim­popo side in Jan­uary.

The 30-year-old, who scored 17 goals for FC Plat­inum last sea­son, has signed a two-year con­tract, ac­cord­ing to the club.

“We have signed Rod­well for two years, he is a top player and is also play­ing for the na­tional team and I think he will add value to the Baroka Foot­ball Club,” Baroka CEO Mor­gan Mmamila said.

“In foot­ball lan­guage we call him a num­ber 10 but he can also


play as a striker, he is a top player my man he is the player of the sea­son in Zim­babwe last sea­son, he is the top goal scorer cur­rently so it means he is qual­ity, there is con­sis­tence in him.

“For now he will just be train­ing with the team and the team is do­ing very well, we can only reg­is­ter him in Jan­uary. He is our prop­erty now so he will come and train with the team.”


Baroka will hope to have col­lected a first ever tro­phy by the time Chinyengetere is el­i­gi­ble to play as they take on Or­lando Pi­rates in the fi­nal of the Telkom Knock­out next Satur­day, De­cem­ber 8.
