MOZAMBIQUE AND LESOTHO CLUBS FOR RSSC COMPETITION
Mozambican and Lesotho sides Um Yung Yong and Butha Buthe will form part of the 11 teams to compete in the RSSC Taekwondo Championships slated for the St Michael’s hall today.
The two international clubs have confirmed their participation in the annual tournament organised by the sugar belt side.
The visiting clubs will be competing against nine local teams comprising Correctional, Mpaka, Next Generation, UNESWA, ST Paul’s High, Mabhensane, Dvokolwako, Excelsior and the host side RSSC.
TAEKWONDO – Preparations
Eswatini Taekwondo Federation (ETF) Secretary Mbongeni Sibandze said preparations for the tournament were at advanced stage when contacted yesterday.
“It’s all systems go for the RSSC Taekwondo competition which will kick off at 9am. We urge clubs to keep time so we can finish the entire programme before the end of the day. There will be several categories on the day and also a prize presentation in the afternoon.”
“We would like to thank the two international clubs for honouring the invitation and we believe this kind of unity will improve the standard of the sport in the SADC region,” he said.
The ETF will be using this competition to assess local artists ahead of the upcoming All Africa Games and the World Taekwondo Championships both to take place next year.
Local taekwondo artists displaying their medals together with Master Cho during the recent Korean Ambassadors Cup, which was held in South Africa.
