Mozam­bi­can and Le­sotho sides Um Yung Yong and Butha Buthe will form part of the 11 teams to com­pete in the RSSC Taek­wondo Cham­pi­onships slated for the St Michael’s hall to­day.

The two in­ter­na­tional clubs have con­firmed their par­tic­i­pa­tion in the an­nual tour­na­ment or­gan­ised by the sugar belt side.

The vis­it­ing clubs will be com­pet­ing against nine lo­cal teams com­pris­ing Cor­rec­tional, Mpaka, Next Gen­er­a­tion, UNESWA, ST Paul’s High, Mab­hen­sane, Dvokol­wako, Ex­cel­sior and the host side RSSC.

TAEK­WONDO – Prepa­ra­tions

Eswa­tini Taek­wondo Fed­er­a­tion (ETF) Sec­re­tary Mbon­geni Sibandze said prepa­ra­tions for the tour­na­ment were at ad­vanced stage when con­tacted yes­ter­day.

“It’s all sys­tems go for the RSSC Taek­wondo com­pe­ti­tion which will kick off at 9am. We urge clubs to keep time so we can fin­ish the en­tire pro­gramme be­fore the end of the day. There will be sev­eral cat­e­gories on the day and also a prize pre­sen­ta­tion in the af­ter­noon.”

“We would like to thank the two in­ter­na­tional clubs for hon­our­ing the in­vi­ta­tion and we be­lieve this kind of unity will im­prove the stan­dard of the sport in the SADC re­gion,” he said.

The ETF will be us­ing this com­pe­ti­tion to as­sess lo­cal artists ahead of the up­com­ing All Africa Games and the World Taek­wondo Cham­pi­onships both to take place next year.
