Chiefs sack Soli­nas, ap­point Mid­den­dorp

- Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with Ital­ian coach Gio­vanni Soli­nas and wel­comed back Ernst Mid­den­dorp on a two-and-a-half year con­tact.

"Kaizer Chiefs and coach Gio­vanni Soli­nas have mu­tu­ally agreed to an am­i­ca­ble ter­mi­na­tion of his con­tract with im­me­di­ate ef­fect.

"We wish him well," the club an­nounced on their Twit­ter ac­count.

Mid­den­dorp first coached Kaizer Chiefs be­tween 2005 and 2007. He has also had stints at Maritzburg United, Golden Ar­rows, Bloem­fontein Celtic and Chippa United.

He is back in the coun­try after his time at Bangkok United as Tech­ni­cal Di­rec­tor.

The Amakhosi also an­nounced the de­par­ture of as­sis­tant coach and club leg­end Pa­trick Mabedi.

"As­sis­tant coach Pa­trick Mabedi’s con­tract has also been ter­mi­nated.

"We would like to ex­press our grat­i­tude to him for all the ef­forts dur­ing his time at Kaizer Chiefs and wish him well," con­cluded the state­ment. Chiefs have not yet an­nounced who will take over the reins.
