STORIES BY PHETSILE MAMBA
It was an explosive fusion of music and fashion during the ‘Church meets Fashion’ event held at the Mbabane Alliance Church on Friday evening. Gospel music lovers were treated to several showpieces from music rendered by Abathandwa who were launching their debut album with the hit song, ‘Ehhe Moya Wami,’ to their Manager Ayanda Ncwane launching her first book titled ‘For the love of Sfiso Ncwane.’
The multi-faceted event saw designers from the church as well as those affiliated with the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture showcase their different designs to those in attendance.
Proving that they were not one hit wonders, songs performed by the group Abathandwa had the audience on their feet as they sang along.
The highlight of the evening was the performance of the hit single ‘Ehhe Moya Wami’ which had everyone on their feet, dancing up a storm despite that it was performed at the end of the spirit filled night.
One of the singers, Simphiwe, said they decided to perform in such a way to enable all to sing along.
Further, he revealed that they were overwhelmed by the support received from Swazis as they were welcomed and felt the appreciation from the audience. A member of the audience Thulile Maziya, who came all the way from Manzini, said,” I enjoyed every single moment at the show and I don’t regret coming all the way.”
On the other hand, while talking about her book, Ayanda said it was all about the journey of their lives from when it all started till her husband Sfiso Ncwane passed away.
She further thanked her supporters who have been there since the beginning as she said it was not the first time in the country for her.
She also expressed interest in working with local artists as she said she would be visiting the country regularly; “I am going to continue with my husband’s legacy as long as I live.”
