‘Lubombo Mall to boost coun­try’s econ­omy, tourism’

THE min­istry of com­merce, in­dus­try and trade has com­mended the joint ef­fort by lo­cal busi­ness­peo­ple who came to­gether and mo­bilised funds to con­struct a multi-mil­lion shop­ping mall in Siteki.

Chief Com­mer­cial Of­fi­cer Ma­ge­nius Hlophe said such a devel­op­ment project will not only ben­e­fit the co-own­ers, but the coun­try in gen­eral.

Noted The mall, whose sec­ond phase will be com­pleted early next year, is strate­gi­cally si­t­u­ated about 20 km from Mh­lu­meni Bor­der Gate. Hlophe noted that the shop­ping mall is si­t­u­ated at the first lo­cal town from neigh­bour­ing Mozam­bique, some­thing which would pro­mote tourism in the coun­try.

Hlophe said tourists who use the Mh­lu­meni exit point would now have more rea­sons to make a stop in Siteki and do their shop­ping. This will con­trib­ute to the eco­nomic growth of the coun­try.

Mean­while, KaLanga Act­ing Chief Ru­dolf Maziya thanked all the rel­e­vant struc­tures which con­trib­uted to the suc­cess of the project. Maziya umphakatsi said the was happy to note sev­eral devel­op­ment pro­jects tak­ing place un­der the chief­dom.

The con­struc­tion of the mall also comes shortly after a sta­dium which is be­ing built at KaLanga. The sta­dium is near com­ple­tion.
