‘MINISTER TO TURN ECONOMY AROUND IN NEXT TWO YEARS’

Swazi Observer - - BUSINESS - Stories by Majaha Nkonyane

THE Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo has promised to speed up the expected change in the country’s badly performing economy.

Speaking during the opening of OK Foods Mathangeni yesterday, the minister voiced out his ambitions to see the economy of the country turning around between the next two to five years. According to Khumalo, this will be achieved by grooming entrepreneurs who are passionate about Eswatini and a vision to see their businesses abroad than to operate locally.

Commended Khumalo commended OK Foods franchisee locally Lincoln Motsa, who has ensured that his passion and vision for business continually opens opportunities in places that no one else could think about.

“Entrepreneurs like Motsa are the kind of people we need as a country, people whose vision and focus breaks barriers. I used to work in Matsapha, and who could have thought that Mathangeni would have such a big store. I want to drive an economy that has more entrepreneurs like these, who will make it possible to turn things around in a shorter period,” he said.

Khumalo said the ministry is greatly encouraged to see burgeoning businesses as they come with the creation of employment opportunities, as well as the development of local communities. Khumalo thanked OK Foods for pushing the envelope by grasping the opportunity to cast their net wide enough to reach the Kingdom of Eswatini. “A good sound investment will always stand out and stand the test of time in the community in which it is placed. An investment of this magnitude needs commitmentandpatience. “Thisistestament that Linac Investments has proven that it is possible to possess all these to fulfil not only your dreams as an organisation but ultimately His Majesty’s vision of 2022 First World Status for the Kingdom of Eswatini,” he said.
