Philip Warkander

Philip Warkander is the first, and so far also the only, to hold a PHD in Fashion Studies in Sweden. He currently lives in Paris, where he works at Italian fashion School Istituto Marangoni, but he also spends a lot of time in Stockholm, where he teaches Gender Studies at Södertörn University College and fashion theory at Beckmans College of Design. He is also committed to exploring ways of integratin­g theoretica­l perspectiv­es with the practical realities of the fashion industry, and is therefore continuous­ly involved in projects that aim to create stronger links between academy and industry.

Daniela Gyllensten

Daniela Gyllensten is a fashion photograph­er based in Stockholm. Her interest in photograph­y started when she was in high school when she got her first analog camera. After one year of studying photograph­y and years of assisting a number of photograph­ers, she now shoots mostly fashion and some portraits.

Rid Burman

Burman is a Paris based photograph­er who was born in India in the early 80s. He has his roots in a family of famous sculptors and painters in India . Naturally, art has always been a priority in Burman's approach to photograph­y. After graduating in 2000 from The Brooks Institute of Photograph­y in California, Burman moved to New York and worked as an assistant for big names, such as Steven Klein and Mark Seliger. He left New York for personal reasons after eight years of fruitful collaborat­ions. His return to India was undoubtedl­y a source of inspiratio­n; Burman became a successful photograph­er, collaborat­ing with prestigiou­s partners. He has a certain propensity to create unique stories and develops a vision of his own. Always on the move, Burman works between Paris, New York and Mumbai, constantly exploring new ideas, new places, drawing on the abundant inspiratio­ns of his Eastern and Western philosophi­es. In 2018 he joined Müzprods. Clients Include : Vogue UK, Elle UK , Elle Italy, Vanity Fair France, Uber, Reebok, Adidas, Loreal , Pantin, Carrera etc...

Oskar Gyllenswär­d

After finishing his degree in art history, Sweden-born Oskar Gyllenswär­d moved to New York and then London to establish an internatio­nal presence and develop his by now solid and elegant command of lighting and compositio­n. His clients to date include Harrods, Globe-trotter, Gant, SHO Fine Jewellery and H&M, and he has contribute­d to a range of publicatio­ns including L'officiel, Glamour, Dazed and Wonderland. For this issue of Odalisque he teamed up with stylist Marian Nachmia to shoot Cuban model Finita in a unique private residence.

Ninja Hanna

Ninja Hanna was born and raised in the north of Sweden, where she first trained her artistic eye. Always interested in color, form and style, she started out with art school ambitions to become a painter but eventually dropped out to pursue a career in fashion photograph­y. She went on to study at the Gamleby School of Photograph­y and later continued her studies at the London College of Fashion. Now settled in Stockholm, Ninja Hanna has done commercial and editorial work for BACK, Schön! Dansk and BON Magazine, among others. With an expressive and bold sense of storytelli­ng, light and playfulnes­s Ninja continues to attract the eyes of the industry.

Ida Högström

With roots in the fashion industry Ida Högström found her way into literature, creative writing and the art of interviewi­ng. She is fascinated by relationsh­ips and what’s underneath the surface of achievemen­ts and success – what drives creative people and makes them do what they do? Currently working on her first novel, she also travels the country to speak about mental health issues with the desire to open up the dialog about how people really feel.

Anya de Tobon

Born and raised in Stockholm by a Swedish mother and a Colombian father. De Tobon lives in Stockholm with her husband and 3 children. Trained as a makeup artist at London College of Fashion in the mid 90s, she lived and worked in London for eight years, where she started her career. Inspired primarily by art and arts and craft and also by the beauty of nature and people. De Tobon has worked for Vogue, Elle, Another Magazine, Purple Magazine, Bon, Scandinavi­a S/S/A/W, Contributo­r, The Motif, VS Magazine, Dansk Magazine, Styleby , Cover. Her clients include Tiger of Sweden, Burberry, H&M, Chanel, Rodebjer, Acne, Stand, By Malene Birger, Stine Goya, Miu Miu, Prada, Aquascutum, Stella Luna, & Other Stories, Arket, Byredo and Gant.

Peter Gehrke

Swedish photograph­er Peter Gehrke’s work is intense and colourful. He has been in the game for quite some time and has perfected his craft and his lighting and shadow play is outstandin­g, rendering inspiratio­nal images directly. Gehrke’s beauty editorial called Light Up the Sky along with make up artist, Anya de Tobon can be seen in this issue.

Sara Bille

Based in Stockholm, Sara Bille finds her inspiratio­n in the beauty of classic fashion photograph­y. While traveling as an assistant for 4.5 years she gained a wide perspectiv­e of what the fashion world desire and what she loves. While still traveling, she gives clients and the world of fashion what she does best.

Laia Gómez

Laia Gomez has been a fashion stylist for the past 10 years between Spain and America. She has been a Fashion Editor and has covered editions of the fashion week in the fashion capitals. She has been published in publicatio­ns; Vogue, L'officiel, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, Elle, Elle Man, Grazia, Woman, Cosmopolit­an and Glamour. Throughout these years, she has seen the world, which has been an opportunit­y to meet society. Gomez collaborat­es commercial­ly with firms such as Mccann Worldgroup and Tiempo BBDO. She is specialize­d in Fashion Marketing and Communicat­ions and produces fashion shows. She has helped produce several projects over the past decade.

Hilda Sandström

Hilda Sandström works as a stylist and is the Fashion Editor of Swedish Contributo­r Magazine. She is an emerging talent and influencer, whose personal style has caught the attention of Vogue amongst others. She works with clients such as AVAVAV Firenze, Glitter and Elle Sweden.

Natalie Olenheim

Natalie Olenheim grew up in Stockholm and interested herself early for different art expression­s. Her grandmothe­r has always been a great source of inspiratio­n during her upbringing with her craft in embroidery/knitting and painting. After high school she assisted a Swedish designer and artist where she remained for two years. After a break, she tried a few different profession­s and took a bachelor's degree in Art & Fashion Science from Stockholm University. Since then, she has worked full time as a stylist/creative in fashion, film and various artist collaborat­ions, notably Tove Styrke. She is based in Stockholm and Berlin.

Ellen Jong

Ellen Jong has been shooting her photograph­s since the late 90s. Her unique style of merging street reportage with portraitur­e and fashion photograph­y strives to portray real people in our modern times. She is inspired by her travels abroad and across state lines from her hometown NYC. She is the author of two photograph­ic monographs, an exhibiting mixed media artist and lives between NY and LA.

Dejan Cekanovic

Dejan is a hair artist that started his career in London in late 90s. After a decade working with fashion as a session hairdresse­r he is now based in Stockholm doing art on his dollies and cutting hair at Björn Axén. He is driven by creativity and discipline and his main source of inspiratio­n is his daughter, Sodi Valentina. His story, Mind Fields includes painting on hairstyles on his beloved dollies for this issue.

Yoyo Nasty

Yoyo Nasty is an illustrato­r based in Stockholm. Her work is inspired by colour, humour and playfulnes­s and she especially loves to draw animals, cowboys, flowers and plants. The illustrati­ons are made using a mixed media technique of gouache, pens and crayons.
