Please don’t pop down

-

In the midst of a raging pandemic, chefs Max Inazawa and John Forsell decided to set up their sign and open a pop-up restaurant in the Söderhallarna food court. The duo started the Miyakodori project in 2018, with the burning ambition to eventually open up their own Japanese restaurant. During their wait to find the perfect location, the two chefs have been arranging everything from cooking courses to pop-up events. Their current pop-up venture in Söderhallarna is open until the end of November and the menu is centred around everyday Japanese food.

The main focus is on the donburi, a Japanese rice dish that comes topped with various condiments, served both hot and cold. And that is exactly what we order on our first visit to Miyakodori. The dish of the day comes with chicken and is a rich offering that reminds us of our first visit in Tokyo, of a trip to a backstreet in Shibuya, and a place that didn’t look like much at all, but offered tasting combinations that were way above expectations. This is really good.
