Totally Stockholm

Happy anniversary

- Peter Steen-Christensen

The not at-all very famous first words of this publication were ”What’s this you ask?”. In the editorial of our very first issue, signed All the Good People at Totally Stockholm, but probably penned by me, we went on to brag about having published Totally Dublin for 87 straight months, and that our long search for a kid sister had brought us to Stockholm - incidentally we were, and still are, Swedes.

Someone had pointed out that Stockholm, this international hotspot, was the only Western European capital without a printed magazine in English. So we made sure that was no longer the case.

I have no idea in what way we have contributed to the cultural scene of Stockholm, or to anything at all, but we have had fun doing it. We have aimed to profile the people and things that make the city a better place, and just as a city itself should be a projection of the collective needs and desires of its people, we have looked to document that. In the issues in which we looked into the future with the help of selected Stockholmers, we had Abraham Lincoln’s memorable line in mind - “The best way to predict your future is to create it”. But this issue is not about the future at all, it’s more about the past. We picked out some stories that have resonated with us over the years and recounted them, some of them with a follow-up twist. A lot of material shamefully stolen from ourselves. It’s still all relevant though, and here’s to the future giving us a chance to giftwrap another 100 issues of stories.
