Eight of the bridges connecting the island of Manhattan to neighboring communities were designed by Swiss-born and educated engineer Othmar H. Ammann. And this year, Christian Menn, the man the Neue Zürcher Zeitung dubbed the most important Swiss-born bridge builder of our time has passed away, and the world lost a master of bridges.
