Fanta sales surge

BEV­ER­AGES: Thai­land has sur­passed China as the fourth-largest mar­ket in the world for Fanta flavoured-soda drinks, ac­cord­ing to Co-Cola.

Coca-Cola (Thai­land) Ltd said it had more than a 75% share in the flavoured-soda mar­ket worth 9 bil­lion baht in 2010. Its Fanta busi­ness grew around 15%.

This year, the com­pany will in­vest 70 mil­lion baht to fur­ther ex­pand the seg­ment and re­in­force its lead­er­ship. It also aims to in­crease sales at a dou­ble-digit rate in 2011.

‘‘It’s a big suc­cess for Fanta in Thai­land. Two years ago, we were ranked 10th and we’ve moved up to fourth in a short time,’’ said mar­ket­ing man­ager Su­tatip San­chaichana.

The launch of a grape flavour last sum­mer was a big fac­tor be­hind fanta’s re­cent suc­cess, she added.
