Ticon Logistics Park Co (TPark) plans to spend 5.5 billion baht a year over the next two years to expands logistics parks and leased warehouse space nationwide.

A wholly owned subsidiary of the SETlisted Ticon Industrial Connection (TICON), TPark expects higher demand as a result of regional integration.

General manager Patan Somburanasin said TPark is studying the feasibility of branching out its operations to cover more northern and southern provinces.

It is looking at Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Lampang in the North, while in the South it is targeting Surat Thani, Phuket and Songkhla for logistics parks, particularly for consumer goods.

‘‘TPark sees retail businesses expanding actively to upcountry areas boosted by urbanisation,’’ Mr Patan said.

TPark recently paid 2 billion baht for 200 rai in Khon Kaen province for a logistics park and warehouses for lease. The northeastern province is a strategic point along the East-West Economic Corridor.

The project will be completed over the next three years.

Earlier this year, the company purchased 80 rai in Prachin Buri’s Rojana Industrial Estate to develop ready-to-build warehouse space.

‘‘Prachin Buri warehouses will focus mainly on automobile, electronics and transport customers,’’ Mr Patan said.

TPark recently signed a three-year lease with Hitachi Transport System (Thailand) for 10,020 square metres of warehouse space in its Prachin Buri facility.

The subsidiary of the Hitachi Transport System Group will spend 16.8 million baht a year for the warehouse rental.

Earlier, Hitachi Transport also leased 2,450 sq m in a warehouse belonging to TPark in Ayutthaya’s Wang Noi district for 4.8 million baht a year.

Mr Patan said TPark recently opened 4.2-billion-baht warehouses in Chon Buri.

Called Laemchabang 2, they are on a 4,500-rai plot with warehouse space of 230,000 sq m. The project will be completed in 2015.

TPark operates 25 logistics parks spanning strategic locations from Ayutthaya to the Eastern Seaboard.

By the end of 2016, TPark will have total leased warehouse space of 950,000 sq m, up by 72.7% from 550,000 now.

Shares of TICON closed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand at 20 baht yesterday, up 50 satang, in trade worth 35.27 million baht.
