From bowing brows to volumising lips, applying make-up may be a complicated matter. But Oranuj Wongprecha, managing director of cosmetic distributor Pre & Prom, believes even those who are completely clueless can learn to be their own professional make-up artist. For more than 25 years in the cosmetics industry, she has been bringing new beauty brands to Thailand, with the latest being Make Up Factory, which will open its first counter at Siam Paragon Department Store on Thursday.
‘‘The name of the brand speaks for itself that it offers a variety of make-up, which are professional products that can easily be used by every woman. This ‘make-up factory’ is comparable to the Mercedes of German make-up manufacturers, and so you can rely on the quality under German standards,’’ said Oranuj.
The German brand was established in 2005, with a head office based outside Munich, where a creative team works closely with production to translate international fashion trends into cosmetic concepts and collections.
‘‘According to fashion trends, the colours of the make-up collections vary from subtle to strong hues. Whether eyeshadow or lip colour, the bright colours are really bold and we encourage women to try them. At Make Up Factory’s counter, we also focus on education so that women can create different looks, from nude to daytime looks to smokey eyes and party looks,’’ said Oranuj.
The brand’s summer 2013 look has eyelids in glimmering green, achieved by using a dark green on the inner and outer third of the eyelid and a light green in the centre. Another summer look, Origin of Bronze, was inspired by Oriental eyes with the eyeliner providing definition from the inner corner to the outer corner where it spreads lightly upwards and downwards.
‘‘Eyeliners are still a beauty musthave, and Make Up Factory offers six types from the Kajal Definer to the Liquid Eyeliner. With a built-in sharpener, the Automatic Eye Liner can also be used as an inner liner while the Liquid Eye Definer has a fine tip that makes it easy to do an extended tail,’’ she said.
While Thai ladies are keen on batting cat’s eyes, Oranuj observed that they may overlook how they can ‘‘wow’’ with shapely brows.
Make Up Factory makes it easy to get natural, thin or thick brow looks by using stencils that come with the Eye Brow Powder.
‘‘Women tend to focus on eye and lip make-up while skipping doing their brows,’’ Oranuj said. ‘‘But beautiful brows give the face a nice frame, and whether thick or sparse brows, you can shape and define them to create this frame that brings your best face forward.’’ The variety of base and colour make-ups allows the creation of various looks, and even creating a nude look involves many items if women want to do it like a pro.
‘‘Women can certainly be their own make-up artist. They just have to learn some tricks to discover many possibilities of their own beauty,’’ she said.
