Preludes and more as young Italian talent to grace the stage
Promising Italian pianist Fabio Afrune will be the guest for the next ‘‘Sunday 4 O’Clock at Sala Sudasiri Sobha’’ concert series, which takes place this weekend.
This is the first time the 18-year-old talent will perform in Bangkok.
The programme will feature 24 Preludes, Opus 11, composed in the course of eight years between 1888-96 by Alexander Scriabin, Three Argentinian Dances by Alberto Ginastera, one of the leading Latin American composers of the 20th century, and Spanish Suite — Andalucı´a by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona.
Afrune has won many awards in Italy since he was seven years old.
Apart from his outstanding performance in competitions and festivals, he has participated in numerous masterclasses such as ‘‘The Russian Pianistic Schools of 19th and 20th Centuries’’ by Prof Gebriella Rivelli, ‘‘International Courses for High Perfection and Musical Interpretation’’ by Lya de Barberiis, and ‘‘Analysis Meets Interpreter’’ by Piero Venturini. In 2009, he was chosen as a representative of the Conservatory of Perugia to be broadcast in the radio programme Conservatori In Concerto. Along with this honour, he also received a scholarship by the studio Premio Duranti in 2011.
Afrune has played in numerous concerts organised by the Conservatory of Perugia in Italy both as a soloist and a chamber music player.
Recently, he took part in the ‘‘International Keyboard Odyssiad and Festival’’ at Fort Collins, Colorado.
Tickets cost 500 baht. Proceeds will go towards the Gift of Life Foundation to help needy blood disease patients. Sala Sudasiri Sobha concert hall is located on Soi Lat Prao Si 41 Yaek 7-4. Seats are limited.
