Freight train comes off tracks in Korat

-

A freight train carrying bulk fuel derailed yesterday between Lat Bua Khao and Ban Mai Samrong stations in Sikhiu district of Nakhon Ratchasima province. Nobody was hurt.

State Railway of Thailand governor Prapat Chongsanguan said the accident occurred about 8am.

He said a piece of metal fell from the brake system, sending one rail tanker off the track and blocking all trains on the northeastern route.

Workers salvaged the derailed rail tanker and repaired the track, and the line was reopened in the afternoon, Mr Prapat said.

He also said a section between Samrong Thap station in Surin and Huay Thap Than station in Si Sa Ket had been temporarily closed due to floods.
