Singer Baitoey R-Siam apologises for telling reporters she was paid 1 million baht to perform at parties for ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Singer Baitoey R-Siam has apologised for telling reporters she was paid 1 million baht to perform at parties for ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

The famous luk thung singer, whose real name is Suteewan Taveesin, 26, burst into tears as she issued her apology yesterday.

She said her remarks about Thaksin had caused misunderstanding and drawn criticism from the public.

Last Wednesday, Baitoey confirmed rumours that she had twice been hired for 500,000 baht per show, plus given a number of brand-name bags and a discount on her purchase of a 20-million-baht house, for performing and partying with Thaksin.
