Cabinet reshuffles 31 provincial heads

The cabinet yesterday approved a nationwide reshuffle of 31 provincial governors. The annual reshuffle was proposed by the Interior Ministry.

Among those transferred was Nakhon Si Thammarat governor Wiroj Jiwarangsan, who was appointed governor of Loei. His transfer was believed to be the result of his handling of local protests by rubber farmers, a source said.

Narathiwat governor Apinant Suethanuwong was appointed as Mr Wiroj’s replacement.

The shake-up also affects Nonthaburi governor Wichian Phuttiwinyu, who has been made Chiang Mai governor, and Bung Kan governor Phongsathorn Sajjacholaphan, who has been appointed Pathum Thani governor.
