Extended realities, by way of dance
French dance company A.lter S.essio is staging EXTension(-), an audiovisual contemporary dance performance, at Sodsai Pantoomkomol Centre for Dramatic Arts, on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
The performance is part of EXTension(s), a duet project that also comprises EXTension(+). The pair serve as a sequel to the group’s Loss-Layers and ENDurance.
Performing will be A.lter S.essio’s artistic director Fabrice Planquette and choreographer/performer Yum Keiko Takayama.
A.lter S.essio creates dance performances mixing contemporary and neo-butoh dance with audiovisual and digital development, as well as video series and installations. Its work often examines the place of the individual in society and questions the conditions of contemporary existence. There will be a discussion in English and Thai with the two performers after the show.
The pair will also give a five-day multidisciplinary workshop called “Ascensio”, from Wednesday until Jan 25, from 1pm to 6pm.
Amateur and professional dancers, choreographers, actors, performers, programmers, sound designers, visual artists and others from related disciplines are invited to participate.
