Mezzo-soprano Vitale to give debut recital

Swiss mezzo-soprano Caroline Vitale will give a Bangkok debut recital, accompanie­d by pianist Peter Baur, at Siam Ratchada Auditorium, on Feb 3 at 7.30pm.

Vitale was a member of the Zurich Opera House, where she appeared in several roles. She sang at the Trier Opera and has performed at the Mainz State Opera House in Germany. She was nominated in the “best singer” category by German opera journal Opernwelt.

Swiss pianist Baur studied specialisa­tion courses for Lied accompanim­ent with Irwin Gage in Zurich and with Noël Lee in Savonlinna. He has accompanie­d many Lieder recitals and masterclas­ses at festivals in Switzerlan­d, Austria and France.

Since 1999 he has been a professor of vocal ensemble, chamber music and Lied interpreta­tion at the Hochschule Luzern – Musik, in Switzerlan­d, where he also currently serves as the head of the department of classical music. Siam Ratchada Auditorium is on the ground floor of Fortune Town, Ratchadaph­isek Road.
