DeGeneres: gay, but no agenda

-

Ellen DeGeneres takes a few minutes on her show yesterday to fire back at Larry Tomczak, who wrote an essay in The Christian Post last week.

His thesis: There is an “avalanche” of “gay programming assaulting your home”.

He went on to say: “The indoctrination and propaganda coming from those advocating a gay lifestyle in our country, classrooms and culture are increasing. All of us need to take note and take action to guard those we love.”

He cited examples including Ann B Davis, the movie Foxcatcher and an ad that ran during American Idol.

And he listed many more ways in which “Hollywood is promoting homosexuality right now”, including Glee, Anderson Cooper, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, Empire, Scandal and Ellen.

He said that Ellen “celebrates her lesbianism and ‘marriage’ in between appearances of guests like Taylor Swift to attract young girls”.

Ellen refutes him, but not before noting, “If you ask me, Larry is watching a lot of gay TV.”

She breaks it down. “First of all, I’m not (makes air quotes with her fingers) ‘married’, I’m married. That’s all.”

And, she says, “I don’t even know what it means to celebrate my lesbianism. I mean. Well, I guess I do, (Ellen pops a party popper) like that! Yay, I’m gay!”

Her message is to be “more kind and compassionate with one another”, she says. “That is the message I’m sending out. I don’t have an agenda. I’m not here to brainwash anyone. But (Ellen holds up a spinning vortex) listen to the sound of my voice. Attention youth of the world: I want you to live your lives being exactly who you are. Be true to yourself — the most important thing is to be true to yourself. The second most important thing is that you wear Ellen underwear and only Ellen underwear.”
