INTO THE WOODS
(Premiered Jan 15)
No longer are we interested in seeing the remakes of fairy tales that come with hi-def images and eye-popping colours. Now, the trend seems to be heading down a much darker path, following the footsteps of Disney’s Maleficent which became a massive hit last year. In this untold tale, famous characters from Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel and Cinderella will be brought together by a witch and a curse. It’s all-rounded fun with catchy songs and an original script that puts less emphasis on “happily ever after” and more on responsibility and consequences. Starring Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, James Corden and Emily Blunt. Directed by Rob Marshall.
