Great music at Anantara Siam Bangkok
A significant piece of music by Frederick the Great will be performed by the ProMusica Orchestra during the “Music At The Court Of Frederick The Great” concert at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel on June 17 at 8pm.
The concert will be set in an atmosphere akin to the court of King Frederick of Prussia who spent his early years with tutors, learning poetry, French culture, the flute and the Greek and Roman classics.
After ascending to the throne in 1740, he established a rich musical culture at his court in Berlin and Potsdam, attracting some of the finest singers to his opera house and surrounding himself with an impressive entourage of outstanding musicians.
He himself contributed several musical pieces to the works of other composers. One of them was his composition Sinfonia In A Major, which will be the highlight of the programme.
The repertoire will include Don Quixote Overture, Concerto For 4 Violins and Viola Concerto by Georg Philipp Telemann, one of the most prolific composers in history whose compositions were played regularly at the court of Frederick the Great even though he was never part of that inner circle of composers.
Also on the programme will be Flute Concerto In D Minor by Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, son of Johann Sebastian Bach. Directing Pro Musica Orchestra in the evening will be Leo Philips, with Worapon Kanweerayothin on flute and Miti Wisuthumporn on viola.
Tickets cost 600 baht (100 baht for students). Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel (former Four Seasons Hotel) is on Ratchadamri Road.
