Fortune tellers no help to ailing Por
A fan page administrator for actor Thrisadee “Por” Sahawong, who is battling complications from dengue fever, has spoken out against superstitious predictions about him by fortune tellers.
“I did not want to talk about this but could not hold back any more,’’ he said. The Facebook page has more than 50,000 likes.
“Since last night, several people have sent messages criticising us for not thanking a fortune teller who they said has been trying to restore Por’s spirit,” the administrator said.
The actor underwent an operation to remove blood from his left lung on Tuesday night.
The surgery went well. Por’s heartbeat and blood pressure are now stabilising, according to Ramathibodi Hospital where the actor is receiving treatment.
Fortune teller Khaninpat Iamtrabutr, also known as Acharn Bank Sketch Karma, has been saying the spirits of people whom Thrisadee wronged in his past lives are taking revenge on him.
He came up with a sketch showing a dark figure standing over a patient in a hospital bed to illustrate his apparent vision about a dark spirit suppressing the actor’s life force.
The fortune teller claimed he is asking the vengeful spirits to free Thrisadee through meditation.
The administrator said although he believes in karma, good deeds and merit, he has no faith in fortune tellers.
“I can only say what I saw. The people who saved Phi Por’s life are the doctors from Ramathibodi Hospital. How could I express appreciation to fortune tellers who keep cashing on the public’s good will?” the administrator wrote.
He said he understands that during a crisis, people are willing to try anything. He said he realised everybody is doing what they can to help Por.
“Some people might resort to superstition for mental support. I would like them to learn a little self-awareness. We don’t need to trust in what is invisible so much that we abandon our reasoning,” the administrator said.
