Tobacco tax rap meet pushed back
CORRUPTION: A meeting between a representative of tobacco giant Philip Morris and prosecutors to acknowledge tax evasion charges has been postponed because he is stuck in Indonesia.
Branch manager Troy Modlin, who was scheduled to report to prosecutors yesterday, is renewing a work permit in Indonesia and his passport is being examined by labour officials. The Office of the Attorney-General agreed to postpone the appointment to Jan 19.
The US-based company and seven Thai suspects are accused of tax evasion between 2003 and 2007.
