Cops nab journalists for Syria arms story
ISTANBUL: The editor in chief of a Turkish newspaper and its Ankara correspondent were arrested on Thursday after publishing a report about the 2014 delivery of weapons from Turkey to extremists in Syria, DHA news agency reported. Editor Can Dundar and journalist Erdem Gul of the Cumhuriyet newspaper, which is critical of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government, face charges of belonging to a terrorist group and espionage. The newspaper published photos this year of a weapons delivery in 2014.
