Foreigners ineligible

Re: “Bad business at BTS”, (PostBag, Nov 17).

The Bangkok Mass Transit System would like to clarify that only Thais over 60 are eligible for the card which offers a 50% discount fare. This condition is displayed on the card in both Thai and English.

Concerning staff service and an apparent lack of proper communication, we wish to offer our sincere apologies to William Boyd and assure all our valued customers of our continued commitment to improving the quality of services and information provided.

In this regard, we will be installing additional signs and other communication channels to clearly display “conditions of use” for this card at BTS stations. Station ticket office staff will also receive Englishlanguage training.
