BANNED: By the FAT men, from all football competition for three years, Satun United. The ban starts next season. Fans of the third-division club attacked referee Pichit Thongchanmoon after a 1-0 loss to Khon Kaen United. In a huge surprise, Satun United chairman Samrit Liangprasit thought the ban was too harsh and said he would appeal. It will be an equally huge surprise if the ban is eased.

ORDERED: By the Civil Court, damages totalling about 30 million baht to be paid by the underage driver who caused a multi-fatality tollway crash on Dec 27, 2010. Orachorn “Praewa” Thephasadin na Ayudhya, then 16, hit the front pages when she was photographed talking on her phone instead of helping. The case involved 28 plaintiffs including relatives of nine people killed in a passenger van.

LAUNCHED: At a ceremony headed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, a new website feature links to government services and information. The Thai-language site www.govchannel.go.th links to most ministries and departments. On opening day, it contained 436 sets of data, 108 government applications and 2,574 services, as well as downloadable handbooks and charts showing how to apply for more.

MARKED: By members of the Democrat Party for expulsion as soon as it is legal, MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, the governor of Bangkok. Because of the ban on meetings of more than five people, MR Sukhumbhand is safe for the moment. But when he cancelled a meeting with party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva without ample notice recently, he may have sealed his fate with the Democrats.
