Just mean-spirited

I am surprised that such narrowminded people are running a large public transport company!

At my company, such people who risk the good image of a company which everybody praises for its performance and efficiency over such a minor matter would be fired immediately.

In Europe we call such minor problems “peanuts”. Restricting a few foreigners, really how many people are we talking about here? What would be the loss from extending this programme to a few more senior citizens? Even less than “peanuts”. Mr Surapong Laohay-unya, CEO of Bangkok Mass Transit System, I am sure, will have visited many European cities and have noticed that all senior citizens who can produce evidence of their age are entitled to the usual discounts for senior citizens regardless of nationality.

This mean-spirited attitude strikes many as xenophobic
