Plan B acquires The One Plus
B20m deal delivers airport LCD screens
SET-listed Plan B Media Plc, an out-ofhome (OOH) media service provider, has clinched a deal to buy almost all of The One Plus Co, which operates LCD screens at major airports nationwide, for 20 million baht.
The company’s board on Wednesday approved the move for wholly owned subsidiary Master Standard Display Co (MSD) to buy a 99.99% stake in The One Plus.
The two companies signed an agreement on the same day.
The One Plus manages 142 LCD screens in the arrivals and immigration halls of the six airports managed by Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) — Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket and Hat Yai.
Eleven more LCD screens are being installed.
“We saw high business potential from the airport media space, as the six airports welcomed more than 90 million tourists both Thai and foreign last year,” Plan B said in a statement.
“Tourism is now on the rise, and tourist numbers will increase eventually.”
Plan B said the funds for the purchase of The One Plus would come from cash flow.
In July, Plan B acquired Triple Play Co for 12 million baht, also through MSD.
Triple Play manages ad space through 88 LED signboards and billboards in the baggage claim area of Suvarnabhumi airport’s passenger terminal under a concession from AoT.
After buying The One Plus, Plan B will see a rise in advertising space at major airports nationwide.
The acquisitions of The One Plus and Triple Play will generate combined revenue of more than 100 million baht for Plan B next year.
Plan B has a strategy of forming partnerships to expand its OOH media business and boost revenue.
In addition to LED and LCD screen operators Triple Play and The One Plus, Plan B’s partnerships are with MaxView Media Group, operator of digital screens and billboards in Bangkok and other major cities, and magazine publisher 2000 Publishing & Media Co.
These investments and partnerships are expected to drive Plan B’s revenue to 2.1 billion baht next year, up by 25-30% from this year.
Plan B also hopes to expand its airport media business further through contracts with additional airports that provide international flights and domestic flights to secondary provinces. Negotiations are ongoing.
PLANB shares closed yesterday on the SET at 6.70 baht, down 20 satang, in trade worth 25.3 million baht.
