Uniqlo Recipes
Available on the App Store
Everybody’s heard of Uniqlo and their (relatively) cheap, simple clothing, the dream brand of minimalistic hipsters the Kingdom over.
As it turns out, clothes aren’t the only thing Uniqlo has to offer. Enter Uniqlo Recipes, an iOS-only cooking app that features numerous food recipes from six prestigious US chefs based on the brand’s outfits and ethos, “Clothes for a better life, for everyone, every day”.
Inside the app’s clean, minimalistic interface (very much in line with Uniqlo’s branding), you’ll find 24 food recipes, with a breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert dish from each of the six chefs. These dishes can range from the simplistic (like fried eggs and toast) to the exquisite, complete with simple-to-follow instructions available in both video and photograph forms. Information on the exact ingredients are also provided, with an option to convert the amounts for different numbers of servings.
For people who are especially conscious about the things that go into their body, the app also displays dietary information on each dish, such as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan or vegetarian.
For users who are interested in learning more about each chef, the app also has a profile page for each one, with short details on their restaurants, specialities and style. Each chef will also be dressed in outfits provided by Uniqlo, which are used as inspirations for their four dishes based on the outfit’s colours and texture. To tie it all back to Uniqlo’s clothing, users who happen to like a particular chef’s outfit can order the whole ensemble right from the app.
To top it all off, the app also includes a cute cooking timer feature, which will play background sounds of cooking as well as original music while it is used. This feature can be used in the cooking process, or can just be a source of relaxing, background music while you eat, to create a restaurant atmosphere for your home-dining experience.
