Ex-Democrat boss dies at age 102
Former Demo c rat Party leader Thanat Khoman, who played a key role in establishing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) in 1967, passed away at the age of 102 yesterday in Bangkok.
Thanat was pronounced dead at 3.49pm at Ramathibodi Hospital. He died of natural causes. His death was announced by his daughter-inlaw, Sirilaksana Khoman.
His body will be kept for 100 days at his home on Phetchaburi Road before cremation. The prayer ceremony will be held from tomorrow.
During his career he was also deputy premier and foreign minister.
