NLA picks judges for top court
JUDICIARY: Piya Patangtha has been appointed president of the Supreme Administrative Court.
The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) yesterday approved the appointment of Mr Piya, with 125 votes in favour, 42 against and 22 abstentions.
The NLA held a meeting yesterday at Parliament House in which the NLA president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai chaired a vote for the Supreme Administrative Court president and judges.
The meeting also agreed to endorse 14 nominees as judges.
They are Boon-anant Wanpanit, Prasart Wongsuwan, Sirikanjana Panpitak, Kanjanarat Leewiroj, Changthong Opassiriwit, Anuwat Tharasawaeng, Choochart Assawaroj, Manit Wongseri, Paiboon Warahapaiboon, Radawan Wanit, Anupong Sukkasem, Kamon Sakondeja, Pranai Wanitchananon and Ratthakij Manathat. Nominations for the Supreme Administrative Court and judges were screened by the parliamentary committee and approved by its president.
