Hail, Caesar!

In this satire of 1950s Hollywood, George Clooney plays a movie star who is kidnapped by a group of left-wing intellectu­als. Josh Brolin plays a studio executive who will do anything to get his prized superstar back, and Scarlett Johansson plays a saucy actress who’s in trouble over a pregnancy scandal. London Has Fallen

Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart star in this action thriller. In London the British prime minister has died and his funeral is a mustattend event for leaders of the Western world. As world leaders gather, a plot to assassinat­e them is under way, prompting secret service operatives to chase down the villains. Directed by Babak Najafi.

Son Of Saul

This Hungarian holocaust drama follows the ordeal of Saul, a member of the Sonderkomm­ando, or Jewish prisoners forced by the Nazis to run the death camp. While cleaning the gas chamber full of dead bodies, Saul (Geza Rohrig) discovers a boy who may be his son, and he sets out to find a rabbi and a proper burial. Directed by Laszlo Nemes. In Hungarian with Thai and English subtitles.

Gods Of Egypt

In this action fantasy, Brenton Thwaites plays Bek, a human warrior who teams with the god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in a battle against Set (Gerard Butler), the god of darkness who plunges the empire into chaos. Directed by Alex Proyas.

Joy

Jennifer Lawrence plays Joy, a struggling divorced mother who invents the self-wringing mop and tries to sell it on a home shopping channel. Robert De Niro plays her eccentric, wayward father, and Bradley Cooper plays the channel’s executive who first dismisses her invention before pushing it to huge success. Directed by David O Russell.

Zootopia

This Disney animation is set in a megapolis populated by talking animals. The buddy adventure story centres on Judith, the first bunny in the police force, who teams up with a scam-artist fox to solve the case of a missing otter. Directed by Byron Howard, Rich Moore and Jared Bush.

Carol

In this 1950s-set love story, Cate Blanchett plays a disaffecte­d, wealthy housewife with a child who plunges into a romantic relationsh­ip with a younger woman, a salesgirl played by Rooney Mara in an Oscar-nominated performanc­e. Directed by Todd Haynes.

Deadpool

Marvel’s rude dude/superantih­ero Deadpool is the alter ego of Wade (Ryan Reynolds), a Special Forces operative who allows himself to become the subject of a scientific experiment. He is transforme­d into a redclad crime fighter with an irreverent sense of humour. Directed by Tim Miller.

The Revenant

Leonardo DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, a fur trapper in the 1820s. Suffering a near-death attack by a grizzly bear, Glass is left to die in the harsh snowy terrain. But miraculous­ly he survives the wounds, and sets out across the brutal landscape to find revenge and redemption. Directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.

Neerja

This biopic follows Neerja Bhanot, chief purser of a Pan Am flight from Bombay to New York that was hijacked in transit at Jinnah Internatio­nal Airport in Karachi by Palestinia­n extremists. Using her wits and courage to save over 300 passengers and crew on board, Neerja becomes a heroine and also the youngest recipient of India’s highest civilian honour for bravery. Directed by Ram Madhvani. Limited release at Major Ekamai, Rama III and Pattaya.
