FAT ME, FAT U

A BURGER FOOD TRUCK THAT’LL MAKE YOU SAY BYE TO YOUR DIET

- STORY & PHOTOS MUANTAWAN VIBOONNUN

Fat-U Burger takes a strong stance against the trend of eating “clean food”, saying “screw you” to society’s norms of caring too much about calories. It aims to be an upgrade from your usual everyday street food. Chef Pat, one of its co-owners and a Le Cordon Bleu grad, weighs, moulds and cooks the patties himself everyday.

The Fat-U crew worked with Conkey’s bakery to create the truck’s very own saffron-infused bun. The saffron extract gives a faint yellow colour to the inside of the bun and is a healthier alternative, no doubt.

Fat-U currently provides two choices of burgers; the classic burger and the signature burger, Fat my life (B220-230). Go for either a pork or beef patty. The signature burger comes served with everything the kitchen has to offer, decorated with layers of melted cheese and bacon, lettuce, sundried tomatoes and topped with caramelised onion and fatu’s secret sauce. The flavours bursted through despite the thickness of the patty, blending all the ingredients together into a flavourful experience.

Curiosity arose after I finished the signature burger — I was stuffed, but that didn’t stop me from trying the other option. The Classic burger (B170-180) offers a healthier bite, filled with layers of fresh onion, tomatoes, lettuce and pickles with an equally juicy patty and a cheesy layer. This is a choice for people who love fresh greens in their burger. Fat-U Burger food truck has no regular spot just yet. It’s best to follow where it will be and when via its Facebook page (fb.com/ fatuburger) or by calling 089-967-6877.
