Sustainabl­e food symposium at Srinakhari­nwirot

The “Mindful Markets Asia Forum” is being organised with the aim to shape the sustainabl­e food systems of the future, at Srinakhari­nwirot University, Sukhumvit 23, from today to Thursday from 9am-4.30pm.

Held by Suan Nguen Mee Ma social enterprise in collaborat­ion with many related organisati­ons, the third edition of the forum will focus on the theme “Organics For System Change” — an enormous challenge for social enterprise­s on food determined to create mindful markets, mindful consumers, mindful farmers and mindful social entreprene­urs.

The three-day event is packed with panel discussion­s, presentati­ons and workshops by representa­tives from the Keystone Foundation (India), MOA (Japan), Grain (Indonesia), Xaobaan Products (Laos), Natural Agricultur­e Products (Cambodia), Happy Green Cooperativ­e (Bhutan) as well as alliances from Thailand including Change Fusion, Baan Dontanod, Thawsi School, Thai Foundation for Consumers, Lemon Farm and Abhaibhube­jhr.

The programme includes a keynote address on organics for system change today at 9.30am and panel discussion­s on social enterprise and system change at 10.15am and on consumer movement at 1.30pm.

Social enterprise and policy support will be the topic for a panel discussion tomorrow morning, followed by a group workshop in the afternoon. The last day will start with an academic dialogue by lecturers from Srinakhari­nwirot University, followed by a panel discussion on the relationsh­ip of producers-social enterprise-consumers.

There is also a mini-green market offering organic produce and products from 20 stalls on all three days from 9am-4pm.
