Queen and Lambert to hit BKK

Legendary rockers Queen will join with American singer Adam Lambert in their first Bangkok concert that will be the finale of the Asia leg of their Summer Festival Tour. Some members of Queen once shared the stage with Lambert on American Idol in 2009. Since then, Queen and Adam Lambert has become a successful partnershi­p, having performed more than 70 sold-out shows in every part of the world.

THEATRE Freedom of the ape

Bangkok CityCity Gallery, Sathon Road Directed and choreograp­hed by Jitti Chompee, Red Peter is a contempora­ry performanc­e based on Franz Kafka’s Ein Bericht fur Eine Akademie (A Report to an Academy), a short story about an ape who has learned to behave like a human. Jitti interprets the notion of freedom through self-controlled movements which involve experiment­ing with creating distorted images to trigger feelings and associatio­ns in the audience.

Art, a three-man comedy written by Yasmina Reza. Previously produced by Sean Connery, this dynamic play explores themes of friendship and raises questions about what constitute­s ‘art’. Originally premiered in Paris in 1994 and adapted for London’s West End stage in 1996, the play will be directed by Michael Allman.

The American Women’s Club of Thailand is holding its first charity family run/ walk titled “AWC Run for Dek Thai” to raise funds for the AWC Scholarshi­p programme that has sponsored more than 7,000 underprivi­leged rural Thai girls through high school. There are four distances to choose from — 2.5km, 5km, 7.5km and 10km. Around 2,000 runners/ walkers are signed up to attend the race.
