While the news on Zika in Singapore is making some people think twice about travelling there, the city state’s tourism board claims its business partners are offering various promotions that might convince hesitant tourists to reconsider Singapore for their next holiday.

Singaporean budget airline Scoot is offering Visa card customers a 15% discount off Economy and Scootbiz fares on flights between Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport and Singapore’ Changi Airport. The special rates, up for grab until a minute before midnight on Sept 30, are available to card users who book via the airline’s website (www.flyscoot.com) and key in the discount code “VISITSG”.

According to the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the famous Gardens by the Bay also has special prices on entrance tickets for its “Flower Dome” and “Cloud Forest” if booked online in advance. However, there is no guarantee that you will actually find the said deal on website (www.gardenbythebay.com.sg).

At the Resort World Sentosa, visitors who buy the tickets for the “Dolphin Discovery Programme” will receive a one-day pass for the Adventure Cove water park free of charge. Singapore Cable Car, Sentosa River Safari and Jurong Bird Park are also said to have special offers. Make sure you visit www. rwsentosa.com to find out whether or not you are eligible for those deals.

For Halloween, Universal Studio Singapore, also a part of the Resort World Sentosa, is preparing the sixth edition of the “Halloween Horror Nights”, which will again see the theme park teeming with all kinds of ghosts and supernatural creatures. Book at least four tickets in advance and save S$10 (256 baht). Visit www.halloweenhorrornights.com.sg.

It is said that online booking agent Asiatravel.com is also offering up to 50% discount on hotels and a three-day-two-night “Singapore Free & Easy Package”, inclusive of round-trip airport transfer. Meanwhile, STB also points out that ION Orchard Shopping Centre will give S$20 shopping vouchers to the first 500 tourists who purchase air-tickets to Singapore from participating airlines until Dec 31. Visit www.ionorchard.com to see if vouchers are still available.
