BRUNCHING WITHOUT GUILT
Le Meridien’s ‘Live Well & Eat Healthy Sunday Brunch’ helps keep you in check
If you think a buffet is just guilty pleasure that spoils you with gastronomic over indulgence, think again.
To prove that anyone — young or old, physically fit or mentally depressed, with fanciful dining preferences or strict dietary restrictions — can enjoy an all-you-can-eat repast in a healthy way, Le Meridien Bangkok has introduced a new concept in weekend brunching.
Every last Sunday of the month until November, Latest Recipe, the hotel’s international buffet outlet presents a health-centric brunching affair.
Priced at 1,350 baht per person, the early lunch combines a personal health check-up with an exercise workshop followed by 2.5 hours of gastronomy.
Guests can arrive as early as 10am to begin the wholesome gastronomic experience with an on-the-spot health assessment.
Based on digital results by an advanced body composition analysing machine, professional nutritionists from BNH Hospital will evaluate and make suggestions on how each individual can improve his/her wellness lifestyle through a balanced diet.
At the workshop, conducted by True Fitness, trainers will share exercise tips to enhance physical well-being and relieve existing body tension. Healthy snacks and herbal drinks will be offered during the process.
At noon, guests will be treated to a sumptuous buffet and a variety of made-to-order dishes. The selection boasts not only “health food”, but also a diversity of mouthwatering cuisine that diners can choose from.
For examples, a collection of fresh seafood includes oyster, snow crab, blue crab, river prawn and New Zealand mussel. The carving station offers stuffed lamb leg, meat loaf with feta cheese, roasted beef rib-eye and pork neck.
A teppan-grill station is where a selection of seafood and meat, such as rock lobster, green mussel, prawn, sea snail, beef steak and duck foie gras, can be cooked to the guests’ preference.
For those who’d like to simply sit and be served, a platter of herb-crusted Boston lobster with tomato risotto (half a lobster per guest) will be delivered to every table.
A nice array of sushi and sashimi, including yellowtail tuna, salmon and giant squid, will please sushi fans.
Francophiles will be gratified with the collection of quiches, as well as plenty of European cheeses and charcuteries. While pasta addicts are promised a taste buds contentment from a “pasta à la minute” corner.
Should you crave local flavours, there are also made-to-order noodles dishes and an assortment of Vietnamese spring rolls. During my visit last month, the selections of entrées from the hot dish counter featured seared salmon with sautéed asparagus and herb oil, poached chicken breast, classic osso bucco with gremolata, vegetable lasagne and lamb shank.
For veggie lovers and heath-conscious diners, there is the innovative salad shaker bar and smoothie corner, where guests can request concoctions that suit their taste buds and dietary needs.
A waffle station and arrays of desserts such as blueberry ricotta cheesecake, avocado chocolate mousse, dark chocolate ppera, fruit tartlets, fruit panna cotta and granola cookies promise to delight those with a sweet tooth.
Perfecting the Sunday feast is a selection of 15 different wine labels (495 baht per person for a free-flow package).
The next “Live Well & Eat Healthy Sunday Brunch” is just two days away. Reservations are recommended.
