Slim Jaeger-LeCoultre Perpetual is a Marvel
Strange but stylish perhaps, Dr Stephen Strange is a watch collector, whose winder dresser includes a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Ref 130842J.
Since the Marvel Studio movie will be released in the US tomorrow, the Swiss maison hails the timepiece as a co-star to Benedict Cumberbatch, who portrays the comic-book character and neurosurgeon.
Dr Strange’s life, however, completely changes after a horrific car accident that robs him of use of his hands to operate on patients.
The surgeon-turned-sorcerer armed with magical powers fights with dark forces in the eye-popping film. The Jaeger-LeCoultre watch on his wrist allows him to keep track of time while reminding him of his former lover and co-worker, Christine Palmer.
The engraving on the watch, “Time will tell you how much I love you, Christine”, indicates that the superhero is a sentimental guy at heart despite his arrogance.
Prominently playing a part in certain scenes, the Master Ultra Thin Perpetual is a 39mm mechanical steel watch with a thickness of 9.2 mm. The silver dial features polished rhodium appliqués and three subdials indicating day, date, and month as well as year and moon-phase apertures.
Inspired by the first ultra-thin watch debuted back in 1907, the modern-day models still represent minimalism in the design while providing performance and reliability through the mechanical movement.
Available as a boutique edition, the sixhanded timepiece is fitted with an automatic winding movement and a 38-hour power reserve, enough to accompany Dr Strange on his series of foe-fighting adventures to save the world.
