The Embassy of Italy presents 3 Piano Generations, a musical project bringing three piano masters from Italy, who will perform at Mahidol University’s Music Auditorium, Salaya campus, this Sunday at 4pm.

This is the first time Rita Marcotulli, Cesare Picco and Alberto Pizzo, each belonging to a different generation of Italian musicians, will showcase their experience and artistry in a unique performance that includes three pianos on stage.

The evening programme will feature Morricone’s Indagine For 3 Pianos (arranged by Luis Bacalov), Rachmaninoff’s Romanza For 3 Pianos, Mozart’s Marcia Alla Turca and Piazzolla’s Libertango For 3 Pianos (arranged by Luis Bacalov).

Pianist and composer Marcotulli debuted on the jazz scene in the 70s and later played with jazz virtuosos such as Chet Baker, Enrico Rava and Pat Metheny. She is the first woman ever to be awarded the David di Donatello for Best Musician, thanks to her beautiful compositions for the Italian comedy Basilicata Coast To Coast.

Picco is a piano improviser, composer and clavichordist who has worked with distinguished international as well as Italian artists. He’s performed at Italy’s most important festivals and worldwide. Besides writing music for solos, chamber music ensembles and orchestra, he is the writer of ballets, operas and music for theatre.

The youngest pianist among the three, Pizzo has performed many international shows around the world, from New York to Tokyo, and has played duets with artists of the calibre of Chick Corea. Last year he signed with Sony Classical and released his third album, Memories.
