Chen tops NLA rich-list with B339m

Chen Namchaisir­i, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, is the richest among the 33 newly-appointed National Legislativ­e Assembly (NLA) members, as the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) yesterday revealed the asset and liability declaratio­ns of new members.

Mr Chen and his wife possess 339,115,360 baht in assets and no liabilitie­s. Their riches include 203,759,806 baht in investment money and 82,897,334 baht in land property, as well as houses and buildings worth 26,706,206 baht.

The second richest among the 33 new NLA members is Lt Pol Gen Chanthep Sesawej who, with his wife, owns 282,638,875 baht in assets and no liabilitie­s. He is followed by Adm Luechai Ruddith — brother of Gen Kampanart Ruddith, an aide to the army commander and NLA member himself. Adm Luechai’s assets as well as those of his spouse are worth 187,610,307 baht.

Sucheep Wangmaitri is the least wealthy of the 33 newly-appointed legislator­s with 5,703,230 baht in assets and 4,401,044 in debts. In total, he is worth 1,302,186 baht. Only five of the 33 new NLA members are civilians — others hold high-ranking positions in the military and police.

Among them are Lt Gen Thammanoon Widthi, former commander of the 9th Infantry Regiment (Royal Guard). He has assets worth 14,162,953 baht — of which 1,400,631 baht belongs to his wife — and has 2,718,215 baht in debts.

Lt Gen Wutthichai Nakwanich, brother to Gen Teerachai Nakwanich — a former army commander and now Privy Council member — has also been appointed to the NLA. He and his wife possess assets worth 93,387,718 baht and have debts of 718,586 baht.

Lt Gen Wutthichai and his wife respective­ly own 817,346 baht and 1,152,372 baht in savings and 24,120,000 baht and 15,000,000 baht worth of buildings and structures. Their other belongings include automobile­s, concession­s and smallsized items.

Also appointed is Metropolit­an Police chief Lt Gen Sanit Mahathawor­n, who is worth 93,231,353 baht. His possession­s are worth 37,849,369 baht while those of his wife are worth 55,382,001 baht.
